Rev. David Richardson, Executive Director of the NH Bible Society, came on ‘Frankly Speaking’ to do an episode of Bible Potpourri and discuss an assortment of about a dozen off-the-wall topics regarding the Bible and Christianity.

Among the issues discussed on this show included: Should Christians advise their youngsters to enroll in college Philosophy classes; the health and psychological benefits of Forgiveness; did Paul the Apostle deliver a Biblical prophecy in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 about Donald Trump; do churches tend to alienate Singles and Divorcees; is laughter and smiling discouraged in Christian churches; what did Jesus mean when he said, “greater works will ye do when I go to my Father” in John 14:12; how to respond to a Panhandler; and are both the Salvation Army and Goodwill Industry too nit-picky on what they’ll actually accept as a donation.

This interview took place in the Access Nashua studio on 6-27-16. Sharon DiFronzo of Screamin Heart records sang the opening and closing theme song for this episode.

Rev. David Richardson, Executive Director of the NH Bible Society, came on my show, Frankly Speaking, last month to discuss his organization’s mission to get Bibles in the hands of the homeless, prisoners, and any other New Hampshire resident who either doesn’t have Internet access or simply cannot afford a Bible of their own. We also talked about the difficulty of understanding the Bible, and some trivial facts surrounding this much revered publication. Sharon DiFronzo of Screamin Heart records performed, ‘Comin’ and Goin” as the opening and closing theme song for this episode.

Stephen Hackett, an Intern with the Merrimack Valley Baptist Church, did this show with me on Frankly Speaking, which was taped at the Access Nashua studio 3/14/16. I was especially blessed when Mr. Hackett shared a lot of Biblical scripture relevant to the Easter holiday. And if you’re looking for a good Bible-based church to attend in the Greater Nashua (NH) area, please consider Merrimack Valley Baptist Church in Merrimack NH.

Are you totally confused on the subject of the Trinity, a.k.a. the Deity of Christ, or the belief that Jesus Christ and God are the exact same entity?

A recent Google search I did on the word, ‘Trinity’, produced 190 million immediate hits. Compare that to doing a Google search on the name ‘Jesus Christ’, which only got 178 million hits. It would appear that a lot of Catholics and Christians are turning to the Internet for some answers on this topic, probably because they’re not learning too much from their Priests or Ministers.

Stephen Hackett, an Intern with the Merrimack Valley Baptist Church in Merrimack NH, was my guest for this particular episode of, Frankly Speaking. We taped this episode in the Access Nashua studio, Nashua NH on February 1, 2016.

Hopefully and prayerfully, this will answer a lot of questions on the very controversial subject of the Trinity. In the Comments section of this Thread, I posted a popular YouTube video which might help people better comprehend the Trinity.

This is an absolutely must watch for any Christian pondering how they should vote in an upcoming election.

Among the topics discussed are: negative campaign ads, speaking one’s mind, weighing in on a candidate’s stance on Abortion and Homosexual marriage, are the economy and jobs most important, Kentucky Town Clerk Kim Davis’ situation, the Supreme Court’s ruling on making Homosexual marriage “the law of the land”, nurses being forced to tell pregnant women about abortion options, etc. Basically, we’re trying to figure out how Jesus Christ would vote in the 2016 Presidential election.

Stephen Hackett, an intern from the Merrimack Valley Baptist Church in Merrimack NH, is my guest for this episode of, ‘Frankly Speaking’.

This just proves that it’s truly the guest that makes a great TV show. Retired Pastor Larry Clouse “planted” the Merrimack Valley Baptist Church in Merrimack NH, about 35 years ago, and today that congregation is one of the four biggest congregations in New Hampshire with several hundred members. Rev. Clouse currently operates the missionary wing of that church, IBM Global. The guy is simply brilliant as he just about did a one-hour monologue. What a fantastic way to start off a new show on the Nashua local access cable TV network.

Evantell
(Wow, a clear and simple presentation to the Gospel – why didn’t somebody ever think of this before?

The following is the contents of a Gospel tract published and distributed by a ministry called, EvanTell, out of Dallas TX. I met the founder of this ministry, Dr. Larry Moyer, who preached several months ago at my church in New Hampshire. Moyer basically summed up the entire Gospel in 10 simple words: Jesus died for our sins, and rose from the grave. He uses what he refers to as: The Bad News-Good News approach to leading people to the Lord.

Personally, I think Moyer’s approach is about a zillion times easier than trying to burden people with things right off the bat like: Repentance, Trinity, Speaking in Tongues, Water Baptism, a Crown of Righteousness, and a ton of other things that make up a 50-Step gauntlet to supposedly make it into Heaven for all eternity. Where exactly does it state in the Bible that a person must be “The World’s Foremost Authority” on all these items BEFORE God would even consider them candidates for eternity in Heaven? How are people in Third World countries with little-to-no education, for example, supposed to grasp a complex instruction guide to attain Eternal Life?

If God did that, He’d have to be a, Respector of Persons, which the Bible specifically states, He’s NOT. And when Jesus told the good malefactor on the cross next to Him that he’d spend eternity in Heaven with Him from this day forward, He NEVER subjected him to some type of ridiculous long process – Jesus just wanted for that guy to believe in Him as his personal Lord and Savior. Also, aren’t the 10 Commandments all neatly contained in just one (1) chapter of the Bible, Exodus 20? I think God wants to keep important stuff like Eternal Salvation clear and simple, it’s the religious zealots of this world that want to make it confusing.

So does Dr. Moyer’s approach to leading someone to the Lord make sense, more so than say, most church’s approach on this subject? Personally, I think that becoming a “complete Christian” in God’s eyes is more like a “lifetime work in progress” rather than a “magical overnight type transformation”, which most religious zealots make it out to be. I’d love to hear your thoughts.)

may I ask you a question?

Has anyone ever taken a Bible and shown you how you can know for sure that you’re going to Heaven?

The Bible contains both bad news and good news. The bad news is something about YOU. The good news is something about GOD.

Bad News #1 — Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Analogy: Throwing a rock and trying to hit the North Pole. You might be able to throw a rock further than me, but both of us will be short of the mark. We have all come short of God’s standard of perfection. In thoughts, words, and deeds we have not been perfect.

But the bad news gets worse…

Bad News #2 — Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death.

Analogy: Suppose you worked for me and I paid you $50. That $50 was your wages. That’s what you earned. The Bible says that by sinning, we have earned death. That means we deserve to die and be separated from God forever.

Since there was no way we could come to God, the Bible says that God came to us!

Good News #1 — Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Analogy: Suppose you are in a hospital dying of Cancer. I come to you and say, “Let’s take the Cancer cells from your body and put them in my body.”

If that were possible,

What would happen to me? What would happen to you?
I would die and you would live. I would die in your place.

The Bible says Christ took the penalty that we deserved for sin, placed it upon Himself, and died in our place. Three days later, Christ came back to life to prove that sin and death had been conquered and that His claims to be God were true.

Just as the bad news got worse, the good news gets better!

Good News #2 — Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved (delivered from sin’s penalty), through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.

Faith means trust.

Q. What must you trust Christ for?
A. You must depend on Him alone to forgive you and to give you eternal life.

Analogy: Just as you trust a chair to hold you through no effort of your own, so you must trust Jesus Christ to get you to Heaven through no effort of your own.

But you may say:

“I’m religious.”
“I go to church.”
“I’m a good person.”
“I help the poor.”
“I don’t do anything that’s really bad.”

These are all good, but good living, going to church, helping the poor, or any other good thing you might do cannot get you to Heaven. You must trust in Jesus Christ alone, and God will give you eternal life as a gift.

Is there anything keeping you from trusting Christ right now?

Think carefully. There is nothing more important than your need to trust Christ.

Would you like to tell God you are trusting Jesus Christ as your Savior? If you would, why not pray right now and tell God you are trusting His Son?

Remember – It is not a prayer that saves you. It is trusting Jesus Christ that saves you. Prayer is simply how you tell God what you are doing.

Dear God, I know I’m a sinner. I know my sin deserves to be punished. I believe Christ died for me and rose from the grave. I trust Jesus Christ alone as my Savior. Thank You for the forgiveness and everlasting life I now have. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What just happened?

John 5:24 — Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

* Did you “hear” God’s word?

• Did you “believe” what God said and trust Christ as your Savior?

• Does “has everlasting life” mean later or right now?

• Does it say “shall not come into judgment” or might not?

• Does it say “has passed from death” or shall pass?

Eternal life is based on fact, NOT feeling.

What do you do now?

Having trusted Christ as your ONLY way to Heaven, here’s how to grow in your relationship with Him:

• Tell God what’s on your mind through prayer (Philippians 4:6-7)

• Read the Bible daily, to learn more about Him and learn from Him (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Start in the book of Philippians.

• Worship with God’s people in a local church (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Tell others about Jesus Christ (Matthew 4:19).

[Copied and pasted from newdesire.org with one slight paraphrase made at the very end.  Please take the time to read this through, simply follow the A,B,C steps stated below, and humbly accept God’s “free gift” to YOU, which is eternal salvation in Heaven. You might say it’s a situation where you’ve got absolutely nothing to lose and literally everything to gain by just accepting it and making it a part of your life.]

Provided by Jesus Christ, Paid for at Calvary

Our main goal here at New Desire Christian Ministries, Inc. is to lead people to Jesus for salvation and to help them learn to lead victorious Christian lives once they’re born again. If you’ve received the free gift of salvation, we pray that you realize that it’s more valuable than anything we could ever offer our site visitors. If you have never received God’s free gift of salvation, please keep reading.

Salvation is a simple as A, B, C.

A – Admit that you’re a sinner.

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” The Bible also says that the wages of sin is death.

Romans 5:12 says, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”

Salvation is not about living a good life or trying to do what’s right. Salvation is about admitting your sin and accepting Jesus’ sacrifice for it.

B – Believe that Jesus died to save you from your sin and then rose again the third day in victory over death, hell and the grave.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

1 Corinthians 15:56-57 says, “The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

C – Confess Jesus as the Son of God and your Savior.

Romans 10:9-10 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

We (New Desire) can’t do anything to save those we minister to. We wish we could, but short of personally accepting what Jesus has done at Calvary, no one can be saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Won’t you accept God’s free gift today?

(Please note: The Salvation Prayer — sometimes referred to as the Sinner’s Prayer — below, isn’t any “official prayer” but rather a sample prayer to follow when asking Jesus into your heart. You can pray to God in your own words.

Regarding the location of the Sinner’s Prayer in the Bible? Well, there isn’t one mentioned; it is only implied. The basis of the Sinner’s Prayer comes from Romans 10:9-10. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”)

Salvation Prayer

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.

I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.

You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. Amen.

(If you just said this prayer and you meant it with all your heart and you have repented for your sins, we believe that you just got saved and are born again.

You may ask, “Now that I am saved, what’s next?”

First of all you need to get into a bible-based church, and study God’s Word.

Once you have found a church home, you will want to become water-baptized. By accepting Christ you are baptized in the spirit, but it is through water-baptism that you show your obedience to the Lord. Water baptism is a symbol of your salvation from the dead.

You were dead but now you live, for the Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed you for a price! The price was His death on the cross. May God Bless You!)

(Author’s Note: This rather extensive list of Bible verses just happens to be the ones I have highlighted in my Bible. If I can’t totally memorize them, I try my best to become familiar with them as much as possible.

Does this qualify me as being an “expert” on the Bible? Hardly. In fact, there are probably hundreds of verses beyond the ones mentioned here that have positively impacted my life — it’s foolish to think you can contain God in merely the verses cited in this posting.

In fact, memorizing the verses mentioned here couldn’t even qualify an individual for Eternity in Heaven, a.k.a. Saved, Born Again, Salvation — you might want to scroll down, read, and apply Romans 10:9-10 for that one.

But even though you may not qualify as a “Biblical expert” by becoming familiar with all of the following verses, it could very well be construed as initiating for yourself a good start in the right direction.

I strongly encourage and exhort everyone reading this posting to please go on and read the Bible, cover-to-cover, for themselves. Challenge God to find out which scriptures, above and beyond the ones mentioned here, can positively impact your life. But I think this proves there’s a heck of a lot more to the Bible than just John 3:16, which, incidentally, is also cited in this posting.

I’ll leave you with two fantastic web addresses, the First, which conveniently breaks down the entire Bible to a reasonable daily reading plan over the course of a calendar year: https://www.biblica.com/resources/reading-plans/ . The Second web address offers a couple different reading options to approach the Bible, varying from a couple months to a full year: https://www.biblegateway.com/reading-plans/ .

May God give you extensive Wisdom as you consistently research His Word – a.k.a. The Bible – so that you may understand it and then apply its principles in your everyday life. May God also bless you and yours on this particular journey going forward. )

Old Testament

And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” — Genesis 3:15

Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. — Genesis 4:8-10

I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.” — Genesis 9:13-17

So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.  And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel. — Joshua 10:12-14

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. — 1 John 2:15-17

You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
