Maybe not quite on the same plateau with “God Bless the U.S.A.”, by Lee Greenwood, this song has a tremendous amount of heart and passion behind it. If I were a good singer, I’d probably do this song every single night at a Karaoke bar.

”None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.” –

then-President George W. Bush

One thing that I’ve noticed over this past decade or so — NOTHING HAS UNITED AMERICANS MORE than the anniversary of 9/11. Even if you were to combine the already established U.S. Federal holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day (Fourth of July), and Veterans Day in any given calendar year; it would still pale in comparison to how our media now “remembers” 9/11.

As American citizens, our society drastically changed that day. Prior to that date, I, along with I’m sure many of my fellow countrymen, never imagined that the United States would EVER be attacked by a foreign adversary on our own soil, discounting American embassies in other countries. Ditto with Pearl Harbor, since Hawaii isn’t exactly in the “continental” U.S.A.

As an American, I was always under the assumption that wars and military conflicts were/are something fought “over there” – or someplace else on the planet – NOT here. The whole 9/11 experience proved to us all, I think, that the United States is AT LEAST as vulnerable (perhaps even more so) to terrorists’ attacks as any other country in the world.

I think, this will eventually become a Federal holiday, but until it does, I can just continue to listen to “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood. This song just sort of brings out the “Americana” in me — what about YOU? Watch this video and look at some of the photo slides during the song. Absolutely breath-taking!

The week following 9/11, I must’ve heard this song about 50 zillion times, God willing, I sure hope I get to hear it at least 50 zillion more times before I meet Jesus face-to-face. It’s one of those songs that I can never really get sick of hearing.

Take care everybody and, of course, may “God Bless the U.S.A.
