Is having ‘Intelligence’ grossly overrated for someone serving as a U.S. President?

Is intelligence grossly overrated for serving as President of the United States? Aren’t ALL Politicians — especially Presidents — viewed as nothing more than “figureheads” or Puppets for their respective Political Parties? Personally, I think the ONLY thing that can possibly be worse than having an intellectually stupid President, is one that is currently experiencing early signs of Dementia in their Life — Wouldn’t you all agree?
